Analysing the announcement of the furniture fair Maison & Objet, I saw that the poster had a very powerful aesthetic, but I couldn’t find enough coherence with the furniture fair theme. The advertising agency used a portrait of a girl smiling, with a had over her head, and an origami bird. A line too fantastic and surreal in my point of view.
To redesign the ad I thought about the similarity of a flat layout and the fair layout, so I used geometric shapes that represent furniture to create an overhead view of a house without walls, that at the same time could be the fair furniture.
Inspired by the “New Style” I coloured the geometric shapes that highlighted on the grey background.
Finally I changed the word “Happy” used in the original ad, for a composition of a house and a heart that symbolise the home warmth.
